This an insightful look at the history and lives affected by two rivers in two different continents: The Darling in Australia and the Dordogne in France. The author cleverly draws parallels between the two seemingly unrelated landscapes exploring the people and their culture. He retraces the travels of literary figures and reflects how much we, as a culture, are affected by our landscape. The author's love of all things French is only equal to his love of his homeland and here he proves it is possible for a man to love and be true to two countries in different hemispheres of the planet.
